Innovative biocompatible and biodegradable family of drug carrier that enables long lasting and pre-programmed release of therapeutic drugs. The patent protected technology enables to entrap a very large variety of one or more biologically active molecules, and to release them in a pre-programmed rate near their target. Following its administration, each type of the entrapped drugs is released according to the desired clinical rate, ranging from several days to several months. Deep bone infections are recurrently accounted for severe morbidity and disabilities, whereas the current solutions are frequently insufficient, expensive and highly toxic. Feasibility has been demonstrated in-vitro with different drugs as well as by the development of medical solutions intending to treat deep bone infections and periodontitis.
Pre-clinical proof-of-concept in orthopedic applications of bone infections, addressing a large growing potential market.
Clinical studies are expected in Q211 and the product is expected to be approved by the regulatory path of a drug-device combination.
Polypid was founded with Xenia in 2008.
